# How to record a video with the Vormats Browser extension

With Vormats Web it's easy to record your desktop screen and [share the recording](https://support.vormats.com/en/article/how-to-share-your-vormats-web-recording-1vnbyqs/) with others.

## How to start recording

1.  You can start recording by clicking on the [Vormats Chrome extension](https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/vormats).

2. Select the Recording settings that matches your needs:

*   **Screen and myself.** This records your screen and your camera.
    
*   **Screen only.** This records only your screen.
    
*   **Myself only.** This records only your camera.
    
    **Note:** The option **Smartphone recording** shows a QR code. If you scan the QR code, it will redirect you to the App Store to download the Vormats Mobile app.

3. For the options **Screen and myself** and **Screen only**, you will have the option to select the screen recording area. This means you can choose between recording **Full desktop** or **Current tab**.

4. Under **Record settings** select your preferred microphone and/or camera.

5. Once all settings have been set correctly, you can **Start recording**.
