How to install the Vormats Desktop App

Vormats device compatibility

Minimum system requirements in order to use the Vormats desktop app

The desktop app provides a way to record videos without using the internet browser and is installed as an independent software.

Recording multiple streams of video alongside audio can be taxing on your computer. For this reason, we've put together some minimum system requirement guidelines to ensure your device and Vormats' compatibility.

Hardware requirements:
The quality of the recording is related to the performance of the hardware. If the device is low-end or currently has limited resources available the quality, namely the frames per second when recording, will be impacted.

Anything less than the below will not support the successful operation of the Vormats desktop app.

Windows:

Windows 7 or above (64-bit only)
Intel Pentium 4 processor or later that's SSE2 capable
With at least 512 MB of RAM (at least 4GB recommended)

Mac:

OSX 10.14.6 or above (64-bit only)
With at least 512 MB of RAM (at least 4GB recommended)

Installing:

Download the latest version here
Select the installer based on your operating system and requirements:

For Windows: .exe is preferred way personal installation and .msi (.msi Enterprise has ALLUSERS=1) preferred way for Intune (or silent installation) distribution

Security notifications when installing:

Operating systems may flag the installer as not verified. However, they both provide ways to install it anyway.

Windows:

Press “More info” → Press “Run anyway”

"Run Anyway" on Windows SmartScreen

Mac:

Open “System Preferences” → “Security & Privacy” → Press “Open Anyway”

"Open Anyway" on Mac (OSX)

Known limitations:

Remote workspaces

Citrix and VMWare remote workspaces on Windows when in fullscreen, do not allow showing the webcam preview but will allow recording the screen. A workaround for this issue is running the workspace in windowed mode by doing the following:

Citrix: Enable Hotkeys on Citrix

VMWare: Press CTRL + ALT + ENTER when in fullscreen mode

Multiple camera applications on windows

On Windows, it’s not possible to have multiple camera applications running at the same time, as so it is with the Vormats Desktop App. The camera will not stop loading until the camera is available.
